How we rank the best Political Betting Sites

We have compiled a table of all the elements that we deem as important before you choose a political betting site. From safety and security to things designed to benefit the user, such as features and bonuses, we have it all covered below.

Welcome bonuses  Welcome bonuses are designed to attract new customers to a bookie site by offering a great promotional deal for them just for signing up. When we look at the very best political betting sites in Ireland, we look for those that have great welcome offers for new punters. These often come in the form of a free bet, but each site will have its own variation of an offer. Free bets allow punters to get a free bet up to a certain amount of money when they deposit a certain amount themselves. With welcome bonuses, you will be offered a free bet just for signing up, which will then be able to be used across a variety of betting markets on the site.
Betting Markets  Sites that have a variety of betting markets available for punters to use are the best sites, and something that we look at when choosing the best ones. This applies to political betting sites just as well as any other. A wide range of betting markets means more options to choose from for the punter, giving room to experiment with markets they haven’t tried before, or even just have more choice when they decide they want to bet. Popular political betting markets include betting on who will win General Elections, who will become the next Party Leader, for instance of Fine Gael or Sinn Fein parties in Ireland, and also on things such as Referendums, elections and mayoral candidates. The best political betting sites will include all of these markets for punters to choose from.
Existing Customer Promotions  As well as a good and enticing set of welcome bonuses, the very best political betting sites in Ireland will also have promotions in place for existing customers too, and this is another thing that we deem of high importance when ranking the best sites. This could be anything that keeps users entertained and interested in using the particular site, and could range from free bets, like a lot of welcome bonuses are, or other promotions such as enhanced bets, no deposit bonuses, or even boosted odds on particular political betting markets, from the big political events like General Elections, to the outcomes of Party elections.
Competitive Betting Odds  One of the most important things that we look at when determining a bookmaker site’s reputation is its betting odds. These must be competitive with other sites to make it one of the best, otherwise it is not worth betting with them. The best political betting sites in Ireland will have competitive odds on the most popular markets right now, such as the next General Election in Ireland in 2025, and the next political party leaders.
Reputation  Of course, the best sites will have the best reputations, and we think this is a very important part of looking into a new political site. Lots of older political betting sites have the advantage of earning long standing, good reputations with lots of customers who trust and use them. Though a lot of newer sites don’t have the same amount of time on their side, there are still ways to check that a site is reputable, from checking that it is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, or another recognisable and legitimate licensee, to checking out customer and official bookmaker site reviews.
Payment Method Variety  Another important element that we look at when ranking the best sites is the ways that users can choose to deposit money, and withdraw their earnings. The best political betting sites will offer a variety of ways to undergo money transactions, so you can be assured that the type you prefer to use is accepted. The most common ways are by bank transfer using a debit card, but lots of people also prefer to use online wallets such as PayPal. Whichever way you want to use, the best bookie sites will offer so that everyone is covered for, and that all types of payment accepted are quick as well as safe.
Site Safety and Security  Of course, when using an online site where you are depositing money and sharing your personal and financial details, you want to know that the site you are doing so on is safe and secure. When we rank the best Irish political betting sites, we look at ones that are not only SSL encrypted to protect your information, but ones that are also properly licensed and that adhere to standard General Data Protection Regulations too.
Mobile Apps/ Site Usage on Mobile Phones  Mobile apps have increasingly become popular over recent years for online betting on the go. The appeal of being able to bet anywhere you are, whenever you want to, has made more and more bookie sites go down the route of having a mobile app too, complete with the same, or very similar features, betting markets, promotional deals and safety as their online sites offer.
Features of the Site  Like anything else, political betting sites are up against stiff competition these days to stand out and be regarded as one of the best sites for punters to use. In order to do this, they must have their own special features and quirks that set them apart from the crowd and ultimately enhance the betting experience of the user, and these are all elements that we look at when ranking the best sites too. These could be through features such as live streaming popular political events such as general election results or the winner of the Irish presidential election, or offering specific offers on odds for these certain events.
Easy and Simple Sign Up Process  We also want to know that the political betting site chosen has an easy and simple sign up process when prospective punters want to use them. The top sites will have a straightforward and easy to follow method to sign up to the site.

Best Irish political betting sites:

As with any betting site, there are good ones and bad ones. That’s why I want to share with you some of my favourite sites for political betting, so you’re more likely to have a good experience. There are many different things to look out for so hopefully this list will help you narrow down the best sites we recommend for you to start with along your politics betting journey.

Boylsesports has a huge collection of betting markets compared to other political betting sites which is why we’ve added them to our list. They have many competitive political betting odds and even cover some of the more obscure or less popular betting events. Unfortunately, they don’t have many options when it comes to watching live streams as only dog and horse racing is available, but they make up for this by having such a large selection of markets to bet on.

Pros of using Boylesports

  • Large collection of betting markets
  • Very competitive odds across most of their political markets

Cons of using Boylesports

  • You cannot watch any live streams for political events
  • Limited on the promotions available

BetVictor is, of course, another addition to our list of politics betting sites due to already being known as a top player in the industry. When it comes to withdrawing money they allow much larger withdrawals than the competition and their deposits are completed instantly. They offer a generous promotion for all new users of their site known as a welcome bonus and regularly hold new offers for their existing players throughout the year. One downside to making political bets on Bet victor is that they don’t allow every country to use their site so if you’re trying to access the website from outside of specified areas you will be out of luck and likely blocked from accessing their site while located there.

Pros of using BetVictor

  • They have a fantastic reputation in sports and political betting
  • They allow larger withdrawals compared to their competition
  • Generous welcome bonus for all of their new users

Cons of using BetVictor

  • They restrict some countries from political betting on their site

888sport has been around for enough time now to have earned themselves a great reputation with bettors. They have one of the easiest to use websites on our list of political betting sites that even beginners can use quickly. They always make sure to cover the most popular betting markets in the political world, however, they don’t offer the most competitive odds for those offers. They make it easy to navigate their website so you can spend the majority of your time focusing on placing wagers instead of learning how to use the site.

Pros of using 888sport

  • They have a very simple to use website
  • They make sure to cover the most popular political betting events
  • They’re well known in the betting world

Cons of using 888sport

  • They don’t have many betting markets available for politics
  • They don’t have the most competitive odds

Coral cannot be missed from our list of political betting sites because they are one of the top contenders in the betting world at present. They have a reputation as one of the most popular bookmakers and even make sure to provide a wide range of betting markets for fans who wish to bet on politics. The site regularly holds promotions and offers for their punters which allow many opportunities to get a better result than originally expected. Coral is constantly in the top rankings of betting sites and that doesn’t change when it comes to political and sports betting.

Pros of using Coral

  • They provide a variety of politics betting markets
  • They regularly offer promotions for major events

Cons of using Coral

  • The website can be hard to navigate through
  • They are not known for having competitive odds in politics

William Hill

William Hill is a hugely popular betting site that covers major sporting and political events for the UK and Irish clientele. It’s normal for them to start allowing bets much earlier than many of their competitors when it comes to future events. They’re well established already and have a great reputation so there should be no concerns when choosing to use them for your betting needs. They don’t have many promotions throughout the year but the ones they do have are worth the wait.

Pros of using William Hill

  • They are earlier to the game when it comes to betting on future events
  • They’re a well established brand so you’ll be in good hands
  • They have quite competitive odds for political events

Cons of using William Hill

  • They don’t have many promotions throughout the year
  • Their collection of betting markets could be bigger

Ladbrokes is another fan favourite that had to be included on our list today. They are rated as one of the top betting sites for political gambling due to having multiple betting markets available. Not only that, but they also have a great website, mobile site and mobile app available to all of their punters. They regularly have competitive odds that beat out their competitors however they do lack in the generosity department when it comes to betting promotions. If you’re a player who enjoys cashing out ahead of the final decision, then you can take advantage of their early cash out feature on almost all politics related bets.

Pros of using Ladbrokes

  • They allow early cash out on many of their political events
  • Lots of available betting markets including politics

Cons of using Ladbrokes

  • They have strict geolocation blocks outside of the UK & Ireland
  • They don’t have a good welcome bonus for new bettors of political events

Unibet needs to be included on our list of political betting sites because they have outstanding promotions and offers for both new and existing customers each year. They allow in-play betting for most of their events and even provide some of the best odds in the industry! They are a leading brand when it comes to the number of events offering cash-out, however, it can be unreliable at times which can be frustrating.

Pros of using Unibet

  • They allow in-play betting on most political events
  • They have great odds for politics
  • Loads of fantastic promotions throughout the year

Cons of using Unibet

  • Their cash out feature is not the most reliable
  • Their customer service could be better

Bet365 is arguably one of the largest bookmakers worldwide, yet they also have some strict geolocation restrictions if you try to access their site from specific places. They always come out on top when it comes to offering lucrative welcome bonuses to their new users, even though they don’t seem to offer as many reload offers to existing users. They do cover all expected political events and more so you’ll never struggle to find what you’re looking for on their platform. Just be careful not to win too much otherwise you run the risk of your account being closed down.

Pros of using Bet365

  • One of the largest bookmakers in the world
  • They offer a huge welcome bonus to brand new users
  • They cover all expected political events and elections

Cons of using Bet365

  • Lots of geographical restrictions
  • Close accounts quite quickly if you win too much

LiveScore Bet

LiveScore Bet was a surprise addition to our list as they are not yet as well-known as some of the other contenders. They have been added to our political betting sites list because they offer a huge collection of political events not only from the UK & Ireland but also from the rest of the world. They have a sleek and modern mobile site and an even better mobile app so you can easily access their betting platform without trouble. They are limited in the number of banking options they provide at present and don’t currently have the ability to allow bet-building but the features they do have, make them a great choice for politics betting.

Pros of using LiveScore Bet

  • Great collection of political events from around the world
  • They have a very modern mobile site and app for users to bet on

Cons of using LiveScore Bet

  • They don’t have many banking options available right now
  • They don’t currently allow bet-builders for political or sports bets

So, what are political betting sites?

Knowing what you know so far, you can probably imagine what political betting sites are. They are websites run by bookmakers that provide odds on specific affairs within the political world that also allow you to place bets directly on their site. Sometimes these sites have special promotions to encourage people to use them, and other times they are just a basic platform.

Politics is a topic that cannot be avoided and affects everyone in some way. There are always elections to be prepared for, events taking place, appointments being booked and shocking conversations being had by the general public and media outlets. This means that people are very aware of things going on and people can’t really avoid politics, so why not try to make some light of the situation by making it fun? There’s a lot of money to be won (if you’re successful that is) so you may as well get involved and join the many punters already trying to make the most of an industry that’s unavoidable.

As with any major event in the political world, many people tune in. The same happens with betting sites. They make sure to keep the latest odds updated so that at any moment, people are able and ready to bet when they need to.

Let’s face it, politics is found all around the world, but there are certain events that get more attention than others – and these are the events that receive the most bet predictions about the outcomes. Take a look at this list below:

  • Next prime minister in the UK
  • Who will become mayor of London
  • The US General Election
  • Which country will leave the EU next
  • Will Brexit be reversed

These are just some of the most popular betting markets in the political world as far as UK & Irish punters go. But that’s not to say that some other events are not covered too such as: What’s the name of the next royal baby to be born, Will the monarch abdicate and if so, when? Who will be the next prime minister in another country? There are even some more dark and concerning bets to be made from time to time like will a war break out between two countries in the next year or not – but this is much less common.

Realistically, anything relating to politics, royals or a government body comes under the political category within betting sites. What do you have on your hypothetical bingo card for the upcoming year of politics?

Understanding Political betting sites and their odds

Betting odds in any case are always worth keeping your eyes on since they can drastically change at any moment. This happens when something changes before popular elections for example. If there is a political party that is doing much worse than expected or if the favourite candidate to win the vote suddenly gets sick before the election takes place. These are just some examples of things that can swing the odds of an event sideways. You can never know for sure what will happen.

How would you deal with this?

The best way to stand a fighting chance at predicting accurate bets is by keeping on top of political news as much as possible. Watch the news, follow the blogs provided by betting sites that cover popular political events and most importantly, try to understand politics to some level. Maybe make yourself a reminder for any huge press conferences that are due to take place before the final event so you can hear of any drastic changes as soon as possible.

Step by step guide on how to bet on politics betting sites

For this example on placing wagers on politics, we will be using the popular betting site Coral.

Step #1: Make an account or log in to the betting site

From the Coral homepage, you will be able to click the “Join” button in the top right-hand corner if you don’t have an account. If you are already registered then you only need to log in using your username and password.

After clicking the “join” button you will see a window open up asking you to input your personal details. This is how you create an account so make sure you put all your information in accurately. You will start with your country and currency, then you will need to enter your chosen email address before creating a username and password. Once done, move on to the next page where you will need to select your gender and input your full legal name and date of birth. The final page will ask for your address and contact phone number as well as your contact preferences.

Step #2: Find the betting markets you want to bet on

After completing your account creation, you’ll be taken back to the homepage. From here you will need to find the betting market you want to place wagers on and you can do this by finding the politics section of the site. You can either manually search for it in the search bar or you can find it in the A-Z section on the sidebar. You will likely have to scroll down to find politics.

Once inside the political section of the sportsbook, you can begin searching for your betting markets. If you have one in mind, it’s as easy as clicking on the “future” tab which will show you the events that are yet to take place and simply clicking the one you want. If you need to decide what event you want to bet on this is your chance to see which events are being covered so you can make a decision.

Step #3: Create your bet slip

Now that you know what event or election you want to make political bets on, it’s time to create your bet slip. In order to do this all you need to do is select the outcome you want to bet on by clicking the odds value to the right of it. This will automatically add this outcome to the bet slip (pictured below):

As you can see, I predict that Boris Johnson will be the next prime minister of the UK and that outcome has odds of 8/1 at present. When the bet first gets added to the bet slip there are no monetary values associated with it. You will need to decide what amount you want to place on the outcome by entering your chosen value into the “stake” box. As you can see above to the right, I have chosen to spend £15 on my bet which means I would receive £135 in returns, if my prediction is correct. Luckily for you, you don’t need to calculate anything as the site does it all for you! When you are ready, click “make a deposit” to top up your e-wallet and make a bet.

Step #4: Deposit money into your account

Now it’s time to deposit money into your e-wallet. You can do this by clicking the green “deposit” button in the top right corner of the screen next to the money balance of £0.00. This will open a window where you can select which payment method suits you best.

If we choose to top up with debit cards for example you will see the below window. You will be prompted to input the full name written on the card as well as the long card number and card expiry date. On the second page (on the right) you will need to choose the deposit value (for our example it needs to be £15 to complete your bet – or a higher value). Lastly, enter the 3 digits on the back of the card strip and click “deposit”. Now you’re ready to complete your bet clicking on the green button on the bet slip.

Step #5: Settling your bets

The final step to betting is waiting for the outcome to happen and for the bets to be finished. If you were unsuccessful, nothing will happen to your account. If you won, however, your account will be automatically credited with your winnings as a return. If you need to withdraw your winnings, you can easily do so in the same way that you deposited your funds – through your e-wallet in your account.

Summary of betting on politics betting sites

Politics has been known to be a touchy subject for people to discuss for many reasons. But it is still a hugely popular market for betting sites each time an election is taking place.

By keeping up with the relevant news and staying in the loop your predictions stand a much better chance of being accurate and earning you some exciting winnings.

Pay attention, learn the basics, and most importantly, have fun – even if you don’t enjoy politics personally, you can definitely make it more interesting by betting on the outcomes.
