Bookmaker odds for the DP World Tour Championship

It’s nearly time for the DP World Tour (previously European Tour) to reach its climax in the race to Dubai. On Thursday 14th November the DP World Championship gets underway at the Earth Course situated in the impressive Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.

It was Paul Waring who saw victory just down the road at Abu Dhabi, but who is destined to come up trumps in Dubai? Rory McIlroy has himself admitted that without a fifth major title, he is determined to claim a record sixth Race to Dubai Scalp and move up to the same legendary status as Seve Ballesteros.

Let’s take a look at what the Irish betting site market is saying:

Rory McIlroy

The man from Holywood has seen phenomenal success at this course, and with his recent admission he is the current betting sites’ favourite here in Ireland to take home the glory at the Jumeirah Golf Estates.

McIlroy had a strong finish last week at the Yas Links in Abu Dhabi but was not enough to displace Paul Waring from first, and he was also beaten by another Englishman for second in Tyrrell Hatton. McIlroy therefore shared the spoils for third place but he will surely be encouraged by his late flurry.

Throw in an agonizing playoff loss at the BMW PGA Championship in September and another second place outing at the Irish Open, McIlroy will surely fancy himself in getting back to the top of the podium.

You never know with Rory, but the bookies fancy him:

Tyrrell Hatton

Tyrrell Hatton has become Mr Consistent lately with a win at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and a second place finish at Abu Dhabi just last week.

Hatton has been described as one of the best ball strikers in the world and there’s really not much between him and Rory McIlroy in terms of the current market pricing.

The 33 year old from High Wycombe in England has several big wins to his name including four Rolex Series events. Will he be in the running in Dubai come Sunday?

Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood just didn’t get going and whilst a sixth place finish is admirable, the man from Southport will know that he’s capable of playing better golf. That has been the story of Fleetwood’s season having gotten to the podium at several tournaments, missing the cut at others, but rarely finishing in the top spot.

That being said, Tommy Fleetwood does have a first place finish to his name this calendar year. Guess where he achieved this result? That’s right, Dubai! Whilst Fleetwood won the Dubai Invitational at the Dubai Creek Resort (and thus a different course to this weekend’s DP World Tour Championship), he will surely be thinking that he can do the business in this extravagant Emirati city.

The bookie’s think he has a chance too, and whilst he’s not as short as his compatriot Tyrrell Hatton, or Northern Irish rival of Roly McIlroy, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him do the business in Dubai once again.

Joaquin Niemann

At the time of writing, it’s Chilean Joaquin Niemann and former number 1 in the world amateur golfer Joaquin Niemann occupies place as fourth favourite in the Irish betting market. Niemann had an underwhelming finish last week in Abu Dhabi and his fourth round outing of 3 under par was not enough to make the top 10.

Make no mistake, Niemann has struggled in many of his recent appearances on the tour. That being said, Niemann’s raw talent is unquestionable and the bookies might just be waiting for Niemann’s form to turn around for the better.
