Cheltenham Festival 2025 – Who do the Irish Bookies Favour?

With the Cheltenham Festival 2025 now less than three weeks away, things are definitely hotting up – and this begs the question: which horses are the current favourites? With free bets for Cheltenham from pretty much every bookmaker, who should you place your bets on? Indeed, it’s one of those questions that always graces the minds of every horse racing fan in the lead-up to such an internationally acclaimed event, and while there’s no way to say for certain, the bookies certainly seem to have picked out a couple of pairs that they’re expecting to perform well.

In line with this, today, we’re taking a look at who the Irish bookies are currently favouring for Cheltenham 2025. Hopefully, this will help you decide if your own hunches are also in line with the bookies’ expectations, too!

Who do the Irish Bookies Favour for Cheltenham 2025?

One of the easiest ways to quickly work out who the favourite for any particular race might be is to look at the bookies’ current odds. Indeed, the bookies’ favourite will have the lowest odds, indicating that these industry giants expect those particular horses to hold their own the best. In addition, the bookies’ odds can also give a lot of other insights into an upcoming race, such as highlighting whether the runners are likely on similar form or if there are large outliers.

Now, in terms of Cheltenham 2025, there are perhaps four key races that are the biggest of each day: the Champion Hurdle on Tuesday, the Queen Mother Champion Chase on Wednesday, the Stayers’ Hurdle on Thursday, and the Cheltenham Gold Cup to round off Friday. This definitely gives a lot of room to predict how things are likely to go.

Starting with the Champion Hurdle, Constitution Hill is generally the favourite with odds of 4/7 with Bet365, BoyleSports, and QuinnBet alike. However, BrighterDaysAhead is very close second to the SP favourite with odds of around 2/1. Still, Constitution Hill’s impressive form with wins in all of his most recent races definitely sets him apart from the crowd.

Looking to the Queen Mother Champion Chase, Jonbon leads the field by a long margin, with current odds of 5/6 from Bet365 and 4/5 for both BoyleSports and QuinnBet. Similarly, looking closer to the end of the event, Thursday’s Stayers’ Hurdle currently sees Teahupoo far in front with odds of 4/5 at Bet365 and QuinnBet and ⅚ with BoyleSports.

Finally, the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday is perhaps the biggest race of the event and the one that most fans will be watching with great excitement. Galopin’ Des Champs is the very strong favourite here, with Bet365 and QuinnBet offering odds of 1/2 and BoyleSports offering 2/5. Given this, it’s say to say that this incredible horse is the clear favourite; and, having won three of his five last runs, and placing second and third in the two he didn’t win, it’s easy to see why the bookies favour him. However, with several strong horses in the lineup – including two more of Willie Mullins’ horses, Grangeclare West and Fact to File – things aren’t set in stone for the favourite.
